Chronic venous insufficiency[edit | edit source]

Dilatation of superficial veins:

  • formation of varices (lower limbs, esophageal, hemorrhoids – external, internal).

Risk factors[edit | edit source]

  • Heredity;
  • obesity;
  • pregnancy;
  • oral contracepties;
  • standing for a long time;
  • lack of exercise, lack of movement;
  • low fiber diet - constipation;
  • smoking.

Complications[edit | edit source]

Venous tromboembolic disease[edit | edit source]

Formation of Deep vein trombosis, pulmonary embolism.

Virchow's triad[edit | edit source]

  • Endothelial disruption ;
  • Slowed blood flow;
  • increased clotting.

Thrombophlebitis x phlebothrombosis[edit | edit source]
