Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia

From WikiLectures

Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia (SED) is a form of dwarfism with a short trunk and limbs (unlike achondroplasia) and deformities in the spine and epiphyses of long bones.

The spine, coxa vara, and genua valga are affected .

We recognize two types of disease:

  1. SED-congenity - transmitted in an autosomal dominant manner, occurrence is sporadic;
  2. SED-tarda − is inherited gonosomally recessively, this method of transmission is more common.
