Spectinomycin

Spektinomycin is a no longer used antibiotic[1] loosely classified as aminoglycosides or aminocyclitols.

Pharmacodynamics[edit | edit source]

The mechanism of action was similar to aminoglycosides (inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis).

Spectrum[edit | edit source]

Only bacteria was Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

Indication[edit | edit source]

treatment of gonorrhea.

Dosage and usage[edit | edit source]

It was dosed 2g once intramuscularly , it was used in patients allergic to cephalosporins or fluoroquinolones.
