Queyrat's erythroplasia

From WikiLectures

Term

Erythroplasia Queyrat , De Queyrat 's erythroplasia is a disease of the mucous membrane of the glans ( glans penis ) and less often also of the vulva. Histologically, it is of the same nature as Bowen's dermatosis (= intraepidermally growing carcinoma) with the possibility of transition to spinalioma. It is therefore a precancer of the nature of carcinoma in situ. Like Bowen's dermatosis, Queyrat's erythroplasia is associated with HPV 16. Macroscopically, we describe a sharply demarcated, deep red, shiny focus.
