Peptococcus

Template:Infobox - bacteria Peptococcus is a genus bacteria, which according to the older classification includes 8 species [1]. It is a gram-positive anaerobic bacterium. They do not form spores and do not have special virulence factors. The most important and currently the only recognized representative of the genus is Peptococcus niger, which is part of the normal mucous and skin flora. It does not cause a specific disease, but is usually isolated from polymicrobial anaerobic Infections. The origin of these infections is mostly endogenous.
