Melanocyte

From WikiLectures

Melanocyte

It is a dendritic cell of neuroectodermal water. It is located in the skin in the stratum basale. Its characteristic organelle is the ovoid body – melanosome. In darker colours there are independently dispersed, in lighter colours they usually merge into complexes, which implies that they form a less effective filter before UV radiation.

With the help of their dendritic foothills interfere with the surrounding keratinocytes and transport melanosomes.
