Israeli's sign

From WikiLectures

It is a bimanual palpation of kidneys. The patient lies on his back with slightly flexed lower limbs. We palpate in the lumbar region. With one hand we push the kidney ventrally from below towards the other hand, thrusted in a depth of a few centimeters below the rib arch. The normal kidney is not palpable. It is positive for hydronephrosis, polycystosis, solitary cyst and kidney tumor.

In the case of an examination of a child, we examine with one hand. The child is in a sideways position with knees slightly bent.
