Heart whirl is the palpable equivalent of a heart murmur.
We look for a cardiac vortex in the precordium and in the jugular fossa. Unlike the spike strike, it has a longer duration. It is created by the transmission of vibrations, which are the source of the heart murmur, to the surface of the chest. It is palpable when the intensity of the murmur is at least level 4 (4/6).[1]
