Term

Dromotropy is the speed of propagation of the impulse in the cardiac conduction system. Positive dromotropic is an accelerated spread of excitement in the conduction system of the heart (a positive dromotropic effect on the heart is e.g. increased activity of the sympathetic nervous system), on the contrary, negative dromotropic expresses slowed spread excitement (e.g. increased activity of the parasympathetic nervous system has a negative dromotropic effect on the heart).
