Oxazolidinones

Oxazolidinones are a group of antibiotics with a "bacteriostatic" effect that inhibit proteosynthesis.

Indication[edit | edit source]

They are among the backup antibiotics. Suitable for 'nosocomial infections] infections, pneumonia.

We do not give children (little experience), careful administration in hypertension, bipolar disorder.

Mechanism of action[edit | edit source]

The mechanism of action is binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. Inhibits the formation of the initiation complex.

Antimicrobial spectrum[edit | edit source]

Antibiotics act on 'G +' 'bacteria. They are also effective against MRSA, GISA, VRE, enterococci, Clostridium difficile and Mycobacterium tuberculosis .

Side effects[edit | edit source]

Side effects are associated with GIT (diarrhea, nausea, vomiting). Hematotoxicity - after 2-4 weeks, allergic skin reactions, headache, MAO inhibition.

Pharmacokinetics[edit | edit source]

Absorption is excellent, penetrates well into tissues and secretions, penetrates the CNS relatively well, is completely biotransformed in the "liver", eliminates inactive metabolites in the urine. The application is possible 'parenterally' and 'orally' .

Drug interactions[edit | edit source]

Numerous drug interactions. Mainly with 'vasoactive' amines, serotinergic drugs. It potentiates their effect. It is necessary to avoid foods rich in tyramines' .
