Musculi lumbricales

Musculi lumbricales are 4 (I.-IV.). They are numbered from the thumb side of the hand and at the same time lie on the thumb side of the metacarpophalangeal joints.

Beginning:

Attachment:

  • the thumb edge of the aponeurosis of individual fingers;
  • base of proximal joints of individual fingers.

Innervation:

Function:

  • flexion of the metacarpophalangeal joints;
  • extension of interphalangeal joints;
  • they bow their fingers radially.
