Description[edit | edit source]

The papule is hard to the touch. It has a waxy yellowish color. It ranges in size from a poppy seed to a pea. The filling of the mollusk itself has a cheesy consistency. It has an indentation on the surface.

Incidence and transmission[edit | edit source]

They occur both solitary and multiple (can be seated linearly in a scratch). The most common occurrence is on the face and chest. It is transmitted by direct contact, especially from shared hygiene items (towels, etc.). The incubation period ranges from one week to six months.

Treatment[edit | edit source]

It is treated by expressing the mushy mass of the papule or by cauterization.
