Hyperbaria

Hyperbaria (hyperbaroxia) is a medical therapy in which, instead of normal atmospheric air (approx. 21% O2, 78% N2, 1% other gases), the patient is inhaled a gas containing a significantly increased oxygen content (up to 100%) at elevated atmospheric pressure. This therapy is necessary, for example, in CO poisoning (which has a greater affinity for hemoglobin), in certain types of hypoxia, etc.
