Asepsis

Asepsis means the absence of germs. In practice, asepsis refers to measures and procedures preventing contamination of a sterile environment by microorganisms.

These measures are most often:

  • use of sterile instruments,
  • ensuring a sterile environment,
  • division of workplaces into septic and aseptic parts,
  • disinfection and use of protective equipment  – mouthpieces, sterile gloves.
