AZAN staining (azocarmine, aniline blue and orange G) is a clear histological staining for highlighting ligaments . Azocarmine colors the nuclei red, orange G colors the cytoplasm of cells, and aniline blue is used to stain collagen (intercellular matter in connective tissue) or mucin in cells blue. Erythrocytes turn red.
