Treatment of tracheobronchitis

Acute

Treatment of the symptoms is usually enough.

• antipyretics
• oxygen therapy
• rest
• antitussives
• expectorans
• ß2-Sympatomimetics

Antibiotics - when providing bacterial etiology:

• aminoPNC +/- B - lactamase inhibition
• makrolides
• TTC
• Cef 2.g
• co-trimoxazol

Chronic

Chronic cough - oxygen therapy, cold air inhalation / corticosteroids

Obstruction - endoscopy + mucus removal -> examination > antibiotics

Acute bacterial tracheitis - intubation until the mucus and fever dissapear

Stenoses - endoscopic recanalization
