Treatment of dermatomycoses

Dermatomycoses are inflammatory infectious diseases of the skin that can be caused by various microorganisms (dermatophytes, yeast microorganisms...). Together with eczema and leg ulcers, it belongs to the most common skin diseases.

Topical antifungals[edit | edit source]

Antifugal ointment Canesten (clotrimazole).
  • For most dermatomycoses, external treatment with topical antifungals is sufficient
    • Iodine
    • Salicylic acid
    • Azole antifungals - ketoconazole, clotrimazole, econazole, toconazole, oxiconazole, flutrimazole
    • Allylamine antifungal
    • Cyclopiroxolamine
    • Undecylenic acid
    • Dodecylbenzosulfonic acid

Systemic antifungals[edit | edit source]

  • In case of persistent symptoms, general treatment is used - with systemic antifungals
    • Fluconazole, itroconazole, terbinafine
  • It is advisable to alternate drugs due to secondary resistance
  • For superficial manifestations we use tinctures, for deep ointments
  • The combined keratoplasty and antifungal effect of salicylic acid is good
  • Suitable – tincture of Castellani, Arningov, …
  • Ointments – Whitfield's ointment, Arievich's ointment, 1% chrysarobin ointment for Trichophyton rubrum
  • Hair and beard treatment is accelerated by baths in hot hypermanganese, manual epilation of loose hair with tweezers
  • For tiny feet - breathable shoes, disinfection of shoes, boil or iron socks
  • In persistent infections - internally ATB Griseofulvin (gricin) - works only on dermatophytes
