Transverse Thoracic Muscles

Beginning: inner side sternum, processus xiphoideus, corpus sterni
Attachment: 2.-6. rib (joint between cartilage and bone)
Innervation: Nn. intercostales (2–6)
Function:
- pulling the ribs towards the caudally,
- helpful with forced exhalation
