Hallux varus Hallux varus, also known as a "twisted" thumb.

Etiology[edit source]

Acquired is not common. It can arise as a result of cicatricial changes on the skin, after injuries, during scleroderma.

'Congenital usually occurs in a three-jointed thumb (middle joint in the form of a rudimentary wedge).

Clinic[edit source]

The thumb is deflected towards the midline of the body.

Therapy[edit source]

According to the cause. Most often surgical correction.
