Syndroma canalis Guyoni

From WikiLectures

Guyon's canal syndrome is characterized by distal compression of the ulnar nerve in the wrist region (Guyon's canal, lig. pisohamatum).

  • Compression may be of the common nerve trunk or only the deep motor branch or the sensory ramus superficialis (clinical signs),
  • m. flexor carpi ulnaris and deep finger flexors are never affected (unlike cubital canal syndrome),
  • EMG examination is an important dg. tool to localize the lesion,
  • surgical treatment consists in releasing the nervus ulnaris.
