Standard Hydrogen Electrode

Standard hydrogen electrode is an electrode made of platinum, coated with platinum black, saturated with hydrogen gas under a pressure of 101,325 Pa at a temperature of 273.15 K, immersed in a solution with a medium activity of hydrogen ions a(H+) = 1. The following reaction takes place on it:

½H2 H+ + e-
