Resorcinol

Resorcinol Resorcinol, also resorcin, dihydroxybenzene, systematically benzene-1,3-diol, is a colorless crystalline substance obtained from a number of plant resins. It is the basis of some dyes. In biochemistry, it is used in the analysis of saccharides, e.g. in the so-called Selivan test.
