Molar conductivity

The molar conductivity is expressed by the dependence of the conductivity on the concentration of ions:

where: κ=measured conductivity, c=concentration of the given ion.

Biological membranes have a large capacitance and they have a higher resistance than the protoplasmic environment by 8 orders of magnitude => poorly conductive for both AC (due to capacitance) and DC current.
