The most common contact allergens include:
- Nickel - used in jewelry.
- Cobalt - used in jewelry, contained in medical materials and antiperspirants.
- Chrome.
- Gold - contained in jewelry, dental materials, intracoronary stents plated with gold and other implants. 200px thumb Gold
- Peruvian balm - resinous balm from the bark of the tree Myroxylon pereirae contained in cosmetics.
- Thiomersal - methylmercury used as an antiseptic in vaccines.
- Neomycin - a local antibiotic used in medicine and cosmetics.
- Bacitracin - a local antibiotic.
- Formaldehyde - inhalation and contact allergen occurring in chipboard, adhesives, paints, varnishes, cosmetics and other products.
- Fragrances - contained in food, cosmetics, antiseptics, soaps, perfumes, etc.
- DNCB (dinitrochlorobenzene) - one of the strongest contact allergens.
