The article deals with the most common contact allergens in dermatological practice.

The most common contact allergens include:

  • Nickel - used in jewelry.
  • Cobalt - used in jewelry, contained in medical materials and antiperspirants.
  • Chrome.
    • Gold
  • Gold - contained in jewelry, dental materials, intracoronary stents plated with gold and other implants. 200px thumb Gold
  • Peruvian balm - resinous balm from the bark of the tree Myroxylon pereirae contained in cosmetics.
  • Thiomersal - methylmercury used as an antiseptic in vaccines.
  • Neomycin - a local antibiotic used in medicine and cosmetics.
  • Bacitracin - a local antibiotic.
  • Formaldehyde - inhalation and contact allergen occurring in chipboard, adhesives, paints, varnishes, cosmetics and other products.
  • Fragrances - contained in food, cosmetics, antiseptics, soaps, perfumes, etc.
  • DNCB (dinitrochlorobenzene) - one of the strongest contact allergens.
