Expressivity

From WikiLectures

The different nature (degree of disability) of the already manifested hereditary trait in the carrier, corresponding to the given genotype.

Expressivity depends on many factors:

  • other genes,
  • environmental influence

In carriers of the same dominant allele, we find a spectrum of morphological deviations (example: polydactyly - from skin folds to multiple functional fingers).

It describes the degree of expression of the given genotype in the phenotype.
