Term

These are tall cylindrical cells named for the fringe of microvilli on their apical cytoplasm. Their main function is sensitive hearing − their basal cytoplasm is connected by synapses with trigeminal fibers, which ensures the sensitivity of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract and in in the alveoli.Due to the developed Golgi apparatusit is also assumed to have a secretory function, and due to the presence of numerous vesicles in the apical cytoplasm, also an absorptive function.
