Bishop score, fundus height - clasp/fundus distance)

From WikiLectures

Cervix score according to Bishop is nowadays the most used method used to evaluate the readiness of the mother's organism to induce vaginal delivery . This scoring system evaluates a total of five parameters: shortening and dilatation of the cervix, distance of the guide point below the plane passing through the spinae ischiadicae, consistency and position of the cervix.

Bishop score rating[edit | edit source]

The first three parameters are evaluated with points in the range of 0-3. The remaining two parameters then range from 0-2 points.

Previously, the Cervix score according to Bishop was used for multiparous women, currently it is for women who have not yet given birth.

Evaluation of individual parameters[edit | edit source]

Shortening of the cervix[edit | edit source]

This parameter is measured in percentage. If we measure the length of the cervix, we measure it in centimeters. Shortening and length are classified into four analogous degrees and 0-3 points are also evaluated.

Cervical dilation[edit | edit source]

From a clinical point of view, this is the most important parameter. The dilatation is measured in centimeters and is classified into four degrees in total, with a score of 0-3 points.

The distance of the leading point below the plane passing through the spinae ischiadicae[edit | edit source]

Distance is also measured in centimeters. Four grades are also classified and, as with the previous ones, 0-3 points are evaluated.

Cervical consistency[edit | edit source]

Here, only three grades are classified and the evaluation ranges from 0-2 points.

Cervical position[edit | edit source]

As with consistency, three grades are also classified and points are scored in the range of 0-2.

Calculation of the Cervix score according to Bishop should be part of the Indication protocol.
