From WikiLectures

Congenital underdevelopment of the spindle bone can be classified as atrophic congenital defects of the upper limbs.[1]

Occurrence and clinical picture[edit | edit source]

  • occurs relatively rarely, bilateral aplasia in ½ cases
  • the ulna tends to be shorter, more strongly curved with a concavity more radially
  • the hand is in a severe varus position[1]

Therapy[edit | edit source]

  • at an early age exercise
  • at the end of the 3rd year, the flexor et extensor carpi radialis can be lengthened
  • at the age of 8, operations are performed on the joints, corrective osteotomy of the ulna or longitudinal splitting of the distal end of the ulna with filling with bone grafts[2]
