Summary

Description
English: Visual depiction of the interaction between the hypothalamus, the posterior pituitary, and the anterior pituitary. Vasopressin and Oxytocin are produced in the hypothalamus and released at the nerve endings in the posterior pituitary gland which then secretes these hormones into the systemic circulation. Tropic hormones are released from the hypothalamus to the anterior pituitary. The anterior pituitary then releases trophic hormones into the circulation which trigger secretion of other hormones from target tissues.
