Fetal lung / Fetal lung

From WikiLectures

* Fetal lungs compared to lungs of adult type contain significantly fewer alveoli, in some places they resemble a gland,

  • the base of the epithelium originates from the endoderm of the foregut,
  • the basis of bronchioles and alveoli are terminal cams' (they are formed by the gradual division of bronchial buds),
  • the cartilage base of the bronchi (arranged as a ring of accumulated cells enveloped by the future perichondrium) and the base of the vessels originate from the mesenchyme.
