A sublethal gene

Designation of a gene (genotype) that reduces the number of offspring in the next generation.
Mechanism:
- clinical: some individuals die in reproductive age (e.g. hemophilia )
- genetic: reducing the likelihood of reproduction (e.g. chondrodystrophy )
