Gadgets[edit | edit source]

Gadgets are special tools that can be set up in your preferences and settings.

User and editorial buttons[edit | edit source]

We have prepared several buttons for your easier edit. You should find them above your edit window. If you can not find them, you should activate them in My preferences.

Here they are:

User interface[edit | edit source]

The button Cite Button easy cite.png.

This button was made for easier creating of citations.

  • Use:

When you click on this button, you will see new window, where you can choose, whatever you need to cite: book, article, web page... Then you will fill some parameters like authors name, surname, title of book, ISBN and create citation. It is very easy! More detail information how to fill parameters in the template citation can be found here.

  • Activation:

Go to My preferencesGadgets and in User interface click on Edit button and tool "Citation" for easier making citations and save it.

User buttons[edit | edit source]

The button Inserted article Button renommer.png.

If you just inserted any article into another, the inserted article should contain some kind of warning, that its text is used in other article and anybody, who want to rewrite or extend it, should do it very carefully.

  • Use:

If you click on this button, you will insert the template Inserted article:

This template should be inserted in the absolute beginning of the article.

  • Activation:

Go to My preferences → gadgets → User buttons, click on Edit button "Inserted article" and save changes.


The button Reference Button ref.png.

If you need to create any reference or note, use this button.

  • Use:

If you click on this button, you will insert this code:

 
<ref>Citation</ref>

You can replace the "Citation" with citation of book (use the template Cite) or you can write your own note. Do not forget to add Links (Reference list) in the end of article (see bellow). All the references you will create in your article will be shown there.

  • Activation:

Go to My preferences → gadgets → User buttons, click on Edit button "Reference" and save changes.

This button inserts parameters as bibliography and sources, which should be used and filled in every article.

  • Use:

If you use this button, it will edit exactly this text in your edit window:

This reference list should be in the end of every article. Authors (editors) can fill this parameters and delete the parameters which they don't need (or our editors can do it later).

  • Activation:

Go to My preferences → gadgets → User buttons, click on Edit button "References" (at the end of an article) and save changes.

Editor buttons[edit | edit source]

The button Editorial signature Button mysignature.png.

This button should be used only on talk pages of articles where is inserted Editorial template.

  • Use:

You should sign all the parameters you've checked with this signature. For example:

This button should be used only on talk pages of common articles.

  • Use:

Just click on this button and insert whole Editorial template.

Important note: Before you insert this template, you should always check first the parameter sources!

  • Activation:

The button Welcome Button user.png.

This button should be used only on users talk pages.

  • Use:

Just click on this button and insert whole Welcome with your signature.

Go to My preferences → gadgets → Editor buttons click on Edit button "Welcome and save it.


The button Copyright violation Button copyvio discuss.png.

This button should be used for inserting the template Process (reason copyvio) in articles, which whole text (or part of it) was stolen from protected work. More information about author law can be found here.

  • Use:

Just click on this button and insert whole ProcessWelcome with filled parameter copyvio and date.

  • Activation:

Go to My preferences → gadgets → Editor buttons click on Edit button "Copyright violation and save it.

The button Suspicious account Btn toolbar Evalution Securite informatique.png.

This button should be used for marking suspicious accounts. What is suspicious account? Every account which name contains combination of numbers and nonsense, all the accounts created in very short time interval. These accounts usually do not have confirmed e-mail.

  • Use:

It should be inserted on users talk page. It will generate short message with your sign automatically.

  • Activation:

Go to My preferences → gadgets → Editor buttons click on Edit button "Suspicious accoun and save it.

Tools and menus[edit | edit source]

  • Edit button "Tools for users maintenance" for head editors and administrators – enables special links in the left toolbox for maintaining user accounts (according to your rights you can set any user’s patrol rights, user rights or you can check IP addresses of the user for the purpose of blocking suspicious account)
  • Simplification of the delete page reasons – this will erase content of the Reason field when deleting a page
  • Do not display the disclaimer – this tool hides disclaimer when viewing an article
  • Summary tips – provides a special menu under the Summary field to quickly click edit summary

Extensions[edit | edit source]

WikiLectures Copyvio Search for Google Chrome[edit | edit source]

You can install this extension to your browser if you use Google Chrome. It will help you to check sources and copyright violations at WikiLectures.

Article Scores[edit | edit source]

Extension allows inserting the score to every article’s revision by using the stars. The rating is available under every article and it changes according to number of edits and rating of the users during the time. List of all rated articles is available at the special page.

Category History[edit | edit source]

This extension provides list of all changes of all articles in a category. This is useful for editors and teachers. Link to the special page is available in the left toolbox when viewing a category page.

CharInsert[edit | edit source]

Helps to insert special characters to the edit field (box is under the Save page button).

Check User[edit | edit source]

This extensions allows to monitor IP addresses of all users and their edits. This is useful when blocking spam accounts. The special page is Special:CheckUser.

Chemical Sources[edit | edit source]

This extension provides special page for chemical sources.

Cite[edit | edit source]

Adds references and special tags <ref name="..."> and <references />.

Collection[edit | edit source]

Extension creates PDF version of articles and allows to create a collection of more articles (a book). The special page is here: Special:Book.

Contribution Scores[edit | edit source]

Polls the wiki database for highest user contribution volume.

Flash Extension[edit | edit source]

Allows to add flash animations to the articles.

Flash MP3[edit | edit source]

Allows to add flash media player for mp3 files to the articles.

Global Stats[edit | edit source]

This provides global statistics for WikiLectures (number of articles, number of users, etc.) during the time including CSV output.

Inputbox[edit | edit source]

Adds tag <inputbox> to insert a predefined HTML form (e.g. to create an article or provide fulltext search).

Manual Sitemap[edit | edit source]

Creates XML Google Sitemap file (available only for administrators).

ParserFunctions[edit | edit source]

This extension adds parser logical functions that help programming templates.

Silverlight extension[edit | edit source]

This extension adds special tag <silverlight> to insert a Silverlight animation.

Spam Report[edit | edit source]

This special page allows to send spam report to the provider of the IP address.

Subpage List 3[edit | edit source]

Automatically inserts list of all subpages of the current page using tag <splist>.

Syntax Highlight[edit | edit source]

Provides syntax highlighting of Javascript, PHP or other code using tag <source lang="...">. This is useful in documentation pages.

User Merge and Delete[edit | edit source]

Adds a possibility of merging two user accounts or deleting one of them.

User Stats[edit | edit source]

This extension provides statistics of users’ contributions.
