Summary

Description
(Archäologisches Museum Jordaniens in Amman).
English: This skull - exhibited in the Jordan Archaeological Museum - shows evidence of trephining, an ancient surgical practice involving boring holes in the human skull. This individual survived the first one, as indicated by the almost complete healing of one hole near the front center of the skull. The latter three operations were apparently less successful and he died shortly afterwards. The skull was found near Jericho and is dated in the early Bronze Age.
