Haploid vs. diploid set of chromosomes.

Haploid refers to a cell or organism containing only one set of chromosomes, i.e. single chromosome from each chromosomal pair. In humans, gametes are haploid as they contain 23 chromosomes (22 autosomes and one gonosome (sex chromosome)).
